Using Data Fabric UI to Apply Latest Patch

Apply the latest patch to a Data Fabric installation by using the Data Fabric UI.

Prerequisites

A new patch for the currently installed Data Fabric version must be available. If the latest patch is not available, you are unable to see the option to apply the patch on the Data Fabric UI.

NOTE
When you create a fabric by using the Data Fabric UI, you have the option to enable the application of the latest patch. If the setting to apply the latest patch is enabled during the fabric creation, any available latest patch is applied automatically to the fabric. There is no rollback if the patch application fails midway after patching a few nodes in the fabric. In such case, manual intervention is required or you could wait for a new patch to be available.

About this task

The Data Fabric UI always tries to install the latest patch available. You can use the Data Fabric UI to apply the latest patch to a Data Fabric installation.

You can apply a patch from the Actions menu on the Resources page or from the Overview tab for a fabric.

Follow the steps given below to apply the latest patch for the existing release version of a fabric.

Procedure

  1. Sign in to the Data Fabric UI, and switch to the Fabric manager view.
  2. Click Global namespace.
  3. Click the Table view icon to display the resource table.
  4. Follow one of the following three methods to apply the latest patch:
    • Click the fabric name link under the Resource name column. On the Overview tab, click Apply latest patch that is seen under Build version.
    • On the Global Namespace view, click the Actions menu that is seen at the top right side, and click the Apply latest patch option.
    • On the Global Namespace view, click the ellipsis under the Action column of the resource table and click the Apply latest patch option.
  5. Enter the credentials to upgrade the fabric:
    • If the fabric is on-premise, enter the SSH credentials.
    • If the fabric is cloud-based, enter the credentials specific to the public cloud provider, such as secret key and access key.
  6. Click Upgrade.

Results

The latest patch is applied to the fabric in a few minutes' time.
