mc admin ilm-scanner start

Command to start the lifecycle scanner for a specific bucket.

Syntax

mc admin ilm-scanner start TARGET/BUCKET
NOTE
If a scan is already running for the target bucket, the command returns an error.

Parameters

Parameter Description
TARGET The alias of a configured HPE Data Fabric Object Store on which the command creates or updates a policy. This parameter is mandatory.
BUCKET The bucket to be scanned. Starting the scanner without a bucket name is not supported.This is a mandatory parameter.

Examples

  1. Start the ilm scanner for the bucket mybucket located in the object store having the alias myminio:

    mc admin ilm-scanner start myminio/mybucket

  2. Error example.
    CLI
    $ mc admin ilm-scanner start myminio/mybucket

  3. Error example - starting the scanner without providing a bucket name:
    CLI
    $ mc admin ilm-scanner start myminio
mc: bucket name is required for scanner start. Invalid arguments provided, please refer `mc <command> -h` for relevant documentation.
  4. Error example - scanner is already running for the target bucket
    CLI
    $  mc admin ilm-scanner start myminio/mybucket
mc: Unable to start lifecycle scanner: operation in progress.
