Supported Operating Systems

Provides a list of supported operating systems by Data Fabric Core, Data Fabric Ecosystem Pack (DEP), and the installer.

NOTE
The air-gapped bootstrap script does not inherently validate the Core, DEP, and OS compatibilities.

You must ensure that you select compatible Core and DEP versions, same OS types for both Core, DEP and installer repos.

The air-gapped repository bootstrap script accepts the following canonical OS repository selectors for each component: redhat, rhel9, ubuntu, ubuntu22, suse, and suse15.5.

Component / option Values to specify How to use the values
Core--core-os redhat, rhel9, ubuntu, ubuntu22, ubuntu24, suse, suse15.5 Core has separate OS build variants. ubuntu22 selects the Ubuntu 22.04 archive; ubuntu24 selects the Ubuntu 24.04 archive; rhel9 selects the RHEL 9 archive; suse15.5 selects the SLES 15 SP5 archive. Use a family value only when that is the published Core archive for the selected release.
DEP / MEP--mep-os redhat, ubuntu, suse Use the OS-family build. Do not invent ubuntu22, ubuntu24, rhel9 or suse15.5 as separate DEP builds.
Installer--installer-os redhat, ubuntu, suse Use the OS-family build. There is no separate Installer-version selector; the upstream Installer directory determines the available archive.
NOTE
An accepted selector identifies a repository branch. It does not establish product support or guarantee that the official HPE Data Fabric repository contains packages for a particular version and OS combination. In particular, a generic ubuntu or suse selector is distinct from ubuntu22 or suse15.5.Core ubuntu24 is accepted without an artificial Core-version minimum in the air-gapped repository. The chosen upstream must still contain a compatible archive. The generic container image does not need rebuilding solely because a compatible new product OS selector is introduced.

Release compatibility

Check the operating-system support matrix and Core/DEP interoperability information for the exact release, including OS minor releases and component-specific exceptions. Do not infer Ubuntu 18.04/20.04 or other host support solely from the family name ubuntu, or from historical suite directories inside an archive.
